Today 2020/03/28,A young Asian elephant [Sriankan] was born to female Tamara in Prague Zoo today. Director of the zoo has told that there will be another birth can expect as other female Janitha also pregnant.
It was a very hard situation to take care of the elephant and to make the delivery. MR.Bobek director of the zoo has thanked to everybody from the elephant valley and others who have given them the support in this situation. They had to work as separate two teams.
They had to separate attendants into two teams to avoid the danger of corona epidemic.
Both Janita and Tamara gave birth to offspring in 2016. Their sons were Maximilan and Rudolf.
Rudolf’s father was Ankhor, and Maximilian’s father was Mekong, after they returned from Prague to Amsterdam in December 2014.
Maxmilian, and Rudolf, will be soon four years old.
prague zoo has 7 elephants now, the oldest being Gulab, Janita, Tamara, Max, Rudi and Ankhor, there is also Shanti, a female.
In 2013 they started a place called elephant valley by spending 500 million Czk.
